It's time to accelerate!

Hi everyone!

Haha it's been exactly a month! So many things are happening in this church and we got to go up one level amen?

I met Esmonde today and ended up late for school because of the meeting, but it was a good meeting! Just planning the timelines and stuff for all the projects coming up, and we realised that it's going to really be a period for us to STRETCH and really accelerate.

Let me give you a preview of upcoming projects:
1) Pastor Lia's birthday videos
2) Red Rain
3) Building Fund
4) June - SCHOOLS Seminar
5) Pastor How's Nordic conference
6) (tentative) Pastor Kong's seminar

And that's just for now...there could be more! Haha!

But let's have a great attitude in doing all this! It's going to be a lot of work, but let's not be tired! And after this year, when we look back, we'll see how far we have come and how much we have all grown, both individually and as a ministry.

I can't wait. It's going to be awesome. :)

Hi everyone!

As you can tell, this is NOT Esmonde. Firstly, our writing styles are extremely different. Haha. Secondly, if you have been receiving many smses from me, I use the word "Haha" a lot. And I write with many smilies. So, if you are still wondering, this is MARIL! :) Haha. (there I go again...)

I haven't been in post-production for long, and I certainly haven't been able to work and really get to talk to everyone in the ministry. However, I just want to say that I really love this ministry! When Pastors put me in, I was quite shocked as I honestly know nothing of videos. Like what Pastor How said, the only thing I know of videos is how to watch them! Haha. That is quite true. But I'm still learning, still wanting to learn at least the basics (like through this ministry, I have learnt how to use a Mac, that's how bad I am).

Anyway, Esmonde and I have exciting things in store! Including a meeting for everyone, but that's all in the works. Stay tuned. But before I end off I just have one thought -

Let's really take this as a year of acceleration and go all out for Pastors, for the leaders and for church! Let's really support them in everything that we do (and not just in post-production, though that would be expected of us as a ministry). Let's really carry Pastors' hearts and burdens with us. Let's be people who can really flow with church, with Pastors, with our leaders, with God. Let's make 2007 a year that when we look back, we can say "Wow! I can't believe how far we've come". :)

And of course, never forgetting GOD, who is the reason why we do everything.

New Years Resolutions

Dear all,

IT has finally happened.. The room is now sparkling clean. The Macs have been purged of their sins and are now living rightly. Translated, there has been a great cleaning and deleting, and many things have now disappeared. Indeed, the old has passed away, and behold, all things have been made new.

These are the new things which are in place.

1) A folder has been created for each of us. Surely you are encouraged to manage your space well.
2) We will only keep all exported productions, and they will be labelled under the respective year and event/category.
3) All cables are currently being kept neatly in the dry cabinet.
4) Slowly, the third and newest Mac will be leased out for others to use. This is so the design-related, photography-related people will be able to make use of the power that is Apple. Hence, you may notice that the third Mac now uses the 600GB Hard Drive.

Great thanks to the hardworking people who helped out in the cleaning process. I am glad that all of us can pitch in and keep our space looking great! Moreover, it was just fun to work together. Haha. You guys are really the most willing and helpful people ever.

To be added in:
1) Movie Database. What is now one dinky surfing movie in the current database will be a piracy monstrosity. But seriously, this is so we will not have to continually sell our souls to EZ Video or Poh Heng DVD&VCD. They will be labelled under respective genre and name, and each moive will be split into 30 min segments.

2) Ideas Database. So we will be able to have a huge collection of the wackiest, craziest ideas and we will be able to bounce off, sharpen and improve on each others creativity and talent.

Right! And as some of you might already know, we have a new addition to our team! Marilyn will be joining us, and will be leading in the realm of her strength, administration! Hence, welcome and respect shall be duely given. *Applause applause applause*

That should be all for now. Really, congrats to all the people who have been working on their vids recently. You all have grown so much in such a short span of time.

Spring Cleaning

Greetings, dear Post Production Team!

It has been a while since the last post; Many videos have been made, and many of you newer guys are finding your feet in the ministry. I am proud of all of you for having made it thus far.

As you probably already know, part of the grand plan was to have a post-Christmas celebration. It will come in time. I understand it is a bit tricky to have outings now because it is busy-time for the guys in Poly.

Nevertheless, we will do what we can for now. Hence, here are the announcements!

1) SPRING CLEANING!!

Finally! We will cleanse and purge the Mac Corner of all dust, spiderwebs, hairs and such. This will take place on the coming Tuesday and Wednesday, the 6th and 7th of February, 6-8pm. Here is the following schedule.

We will finally be clearing the Macs and the Hard Drive of a long overdue cleanup. We will also be straightening out the cupboard. *NOTE: Don't leave the precious juicer stuff lying around!! It will be confiscated!! Be excited. All things will truly be made new.

Post Heart Awards

Dear Post-production Team,

Well, 2006 has come and gone! What a year. All in all, I just want to express how immensely glad I am with everyone in this team. Regardless of how new you may be in this team or how 'lao jiao' you are, you have a special place here.

Already, I am getting remarks from people saying how different the styles presented during the Heart Awards were. You guys are slowly developing your very own flavours and personalities, and that it a sign of personal growth. For those of you who have just jumped onto the bandwagon, your first videos are your achievement as growing members in this team. No fear, no anxiety. Everyone is progressing at their own pace.

Anyhow, seeing that this is the beginning of the year, several things will be happening. Heh heh..

1) Systems and Procedures!
Now that the video season is more or less dying down(relatively), I will be working on the systems and procedures that will play a part in governing the world of the Imaginarium. From the looks of how things ran during the Heart Awards, we really really need them! I will share more with you guys when I have things tied down, but basically, we need these rules and protocols to give stability to our Creative Work, that we will be able to run and keep running well because everything runs, works and stays in place, even when under stress.

2) Fine System
Yes, your money will give new life to the ministry. Incidences of the room left in disorder were thankfully minimised, though not totally gone. We have to work towards perfection. Haha.

3) Debrief
I have yet to talk to each of you for your work done during the holidays. The most important thing is that evryone picks up something after the holidays. The last thing I want to happen is you walking off learning nothing; that would be the most unprofitable.

4) The Final Judgement
The Final Judgement on the Macs was stopped temporarily for the Heart Awards. Now it continues. When I am through, everything on the computers will be eliminated and we will have a clean sheet to start on again. The same goes for the LaCie hard Drive, both the photo and video ones.

5) The New Mac
I understand that there have been problems with the New Mac being unable to upload footage and all. Most of the time, either Sky or myself goes down to the Mac shop to get answers. I think it will be good if you guys begin to play a part in solving such technical issues as well. Hence I will be getting people to look up the Mac Shop.

5) Party!!
There just HAS to be some sort of celebration; I know everone has worked hard, and it's absolutely necessary that we celebrate our hardwork and successes. Let's all have it like a Pot Luck style, where everyone brings a bit of stuff. Do you think that this Sat will be too rushed? I was thinking next week wouldn't be too good since we will be busy with schools and evangelism and everything. Do give your opinion on the tagboard.

Alright, that should be it for now. It's a new year. I simply dream of all the things we will accomplish.

Christmas Project!

Hi guys!

For all of you who will be staying over at my home for the Christmas Project,

1) Things to bring:

i) Clothes for VBS and regular use.
ii) Toiletries, aka toothbrush minimally. Towel will be good too.
*iii) If you have a digital camera/camcorder, bring it too. Everything needed for it to run for a few days straight and any accompanying wires to upload the footage. Darren, thanks for your camera!
iv) A bit commonsensical... But still, remember to bring everything you'll need for VBS! Bible.. Notebook and stationery .. etc

2) What you'll be noting:

i) Foodwise, we'll try to eat before heading down to my place. Certainly, you may stock up before coming down.
ii) Churchwise, we'll head there together each morning. We'll maintain proper sleep hours, so there should be no excuse for being lifeless and dead during VBS. Must ah!! We must work the hardest and still be the most alive! Immediately after service, we'll head down to my place and carry on with work.
iii) QT-wise, for those staying over, there will be time to do QT. This is the MOST important part of the Christmas Project. We may not be the most skilled, but there is the anointing and the presence of God. With God, our video project will surely be successful.
iv) PO-wise, it will be up to you to manage. You guys here will have to learn to manage your relationship with your parents. If now you can be stopped by PO, how will you ever grow up working and living for God? Gotta learn to be wise and manage your PO well.

3) What we'll be doing:

i) First day, I will be splitting you all into groups. There I will teach you all a skill which you will be focusing on.
ii) Thereafter I will brief you on the overall picture of the project.
iii) I will finally show you explicitly what you will be doing. The details, the micro picture.
iv) Work!

That should be all. So immediately after the VBS tmrw, I will have a short ad hoc prac. Everyone can go eat first before meeting back in church. We will proceed from there.

Yes!! I have set up a Yahoo account for the Post-production Team and the Drama Ministry. Why I've decided to merge the two ministries into one account is because you, as the Post-prod people, will need actors for your videos. Hence you will come through me for the actors.

Anyhoo, regarding slotsheets, there is a calendar option on the account. You will see on Nov 27th an example of what you should do. From now on, you WILL be required to book the Macs for use. I will be labelling the Macs as soon as I've gotten the third one up and running, so booking them will be smoother.

How to do it:

i) Go to Yahoo.com
ii) Go to the mail option (Or anywhere that allows you to sign in)

a)Regarding Not Turning Of The Macs, here is the fine list. You will notice that it is very very fine

As of now, fines have already started coming in! So if you will want to prosper, you will take care of the equipment as well!

b) Anyone staying over, you will have to let Sky and myself know. More importantly Sky, because he is the king of the premises.

Also, regarding the keys to the Media Room, after staying over you will lock up, then place the keys in the reception keys tray. This is so anyone using the room after you will not have to go on an easter-egg hunt for the keys.

c) And once again... Let Uncle Goh know when you want to withdraw materials from the DV Tapes Collections!!! HE IS THE KING OF MEDIA!

Shi Wei has *gasped* finished his very first video!! APPLAUSE YAY!!

FX has done his first slower-paced, emotionally richer video. Well done. You are learning to vary your work. You are moving from your personal style and developing yourself.

Jeremy Chan's video has received glowing accolades from everyone I have met so far. You have pushed the entire standard of the Post Production up up up. Excellent job! To everyone... Up up up!!! Jeremy says his video will last for three years. Will you change it?? Be the one haha.

Ordering of the Lacie

By the end of this week, may all your work be stored neatly into a personal folder on the Lacie. I don't want things lying all around the hard disk. So, come down before Sunday and work things out.

For those of you currently working on projects, place ALL your things into ONE folder on the computer. Don't let your mess spill out and affect the rest of the people who have to use the mac.

Finally, this goes without saying, but make sure your own folders are neat. When it is opened, everything should be ordered out, best would be by date and project.

All offending, stray items will be deleted.

2b)
New arrangement for the Lacie

Sky and I have been talking. Thing is, although we have a 1Tb storage disk, which is already going into the realms of computer madness, we have already used up more than half of it! In dota terms, that would be somewhat a mo-mo-mo-monster kill.

Hence, we will be trying something out once the Lacie is in order. We will want to only keep one hard copy(dvd) and one soft copy(exported productions) for each project done, and completely do away with the editable version, because it takes up way to much space. We will try this out for the older videos. If it is good, then we will implement it for all the other videos.

Also... From now on when we borrow movies, burn one copy via the Evolution TV and save it. There will be a new 'movies' folder in the Lacie. That way, we will always have a fat database of movies to extract footage from!

Slot Sheets

The advent of the new Mac will not really ease things out, as the number of projects running concurrently will keep increasing. Slot sheets are coming up soon. You will have to book your times and dates to use the macs.

4)
Other stuff. Take note!!!!

a) When looking for footage for service, pls take from our new HD cameras!! Don't use the old ones alr. Let's use the best footage we can!!

b) Nowadays, when looking for tapes, pls go through Uncle Goh. He will be sorting out everything. Do NOT mess it up for him!! He is now the king of media. Give him due respect.

c) After using the macs, turn them off!! If you don't... $10 wil leave your side... You have been warned...

Hi guys,

Last one week was busy! Had little time to update the blog. For those who are newer, we were unable to meet last week due to a packed schedule, so I'll be arranging with you guys again! You should have received the sms by now, asking for which evenings you'll be free this week. I'll get back to you all soon.

Aside from that, most of you should know that things are more or less picking up. FX is working on his VBS vid, Xin Jie, Jing Fen and Dale are each working on a Zone F Hero Vid each and Jeremy Chan is working on a Heart Awards/CREATE promo vid. Wei Tze just finished his Youth Camp Vid which, surprise surprise, is only his second attempt! Round of applause!! Praise has not yet died down for JingFen's WeMambo Challenge promo vid, which Pastor Lia has just praised!! What alot of BOLD letters are being used! It is a sign that many good things are taking place..

And don't expect things to die down yet, because here come the updates!!

1) The Heart Awards Videos have come out! Take note of the confirmed awards:

-Youth of the Year which, by the way, is the grandest of all the awards
-Team of the Year
-Team Leader of the Year(Leaders leaders leaders in the house of God!!!)
-One mystery award!!(I have yet to decide what to do with this one...)

-Courage Award (The song has been decided by Pastors! It is "I Will Survive"

For those of you who already have ideas for the above mentioned videos, you may approach me and confirm with me, and you may begin! Think back to that day where we were talking about our ideas...

1a) Furthermore, for those of you who have just joined this ministry, there is a special task at hand for you.. You guys will be working on the CREATE videos!! As in, the sky's the limit. Remember the things we talked about that day! All those ideas... Likewise, you may approach me, confirm with me, and begin work!

2) In retrospect, I feel that our focus has to change to flow more with Pastors. As such, I would like to place less emphasis on the Heart Awards and Create(though we have all been really excited about it!) and give our Christmas Big Days more attention!! I feel we have to be more concerned and excited for salvations! Ultimately, our Heart Awards is only for our people. The real harvest comes with Christmas. As such, take note of the videos that will have to be done!

These will have to be absolutely top notch.. The Heart of God family must see the promo video and be absolutely convicted to bring every single person in Singapore to church.. They will catch the Heart of God towards the lost. People must see the salvation video and feel the presence of God. They must begin to cry and be touched by the love of Jesus..We have to contribute as much as we can to these two major days so that we can see more people saved and coming to know Jesus. Got it? I'm particularly excited for Christmas. So, if you really want to stretch your videomaking skills and you have an absolutely powerful idea you think is the right one for that day, APPROACH ME!!! I am really hoping that people will step forward for this!

3) Also, Pastors would like to put together a Salvation CD that will be very much like our "Greatest Miracle" booklets that we hand out after every service. Except that this time, it will be something like a combined CD that will help new believers to understand their decision, and will also contain Praise and Worship songs so they can do their own QT at home. Cool right! Haha. I will be arranging this one, but I would also like to involve the Live Feed crew members, because you have greater training and knowhow in operating our new professional HD Video Cameras. So, Live Feed guys and gals, this is just for your foreknowledge!

4) There will be a Video done for Destiny International, our Heart of God church International Humanitarian Aid. This will be an excellent opportunity for training, so I will be allowing some of the younger people to handle this!

5) Lastly, we will be getting new Macs!! Two is just too little for everyone to share, so there will be a third. However... With great power comes great cleanliness, accountability and otherwise responsibilities!! I will be placing into motion several new systems which will encourage everyone to take ownership or our stuff in church. They will include cleanliness of the room, an ordered manner of archiving our productions, and a booking sheet for the use of the Macs. We, as the post-production team, need to have a greater sense of neatness than others, particularly since the space is prone to being messy!

Congratulations! You have just chosen to join the Heart of God Post Production Ministry. Many fantastic, awesome, intense experiences await you.. Some of your predecessors may have confessed that it even has been too much for them! Make no mistake about it..

That opening bit was just to scare you, really. Seriously, I'd love to meet you all and get you guys acquainted with the team. Pls note down on the tag board, when you'll be free on this coming Sat till Wed next week, both your time and date. As soon as posible, let's talk, laugh, then get down to business!

Heart Awards Prep II

Dear Post-production Team,

As we enter into the 4th week of October, I would like all of you to have as much QT and spiritual preparation as possible. Please enter into the coming season of work with the peace of mind and stability of heart that comes from spending time with God. It is all too easy to fall prey to the ensuing stress, so once again, let me shout it out loudly:

SPIRITUAL PREPARATION!!!

Go Fast... Pray... Read the Bible... Praise and Worship God... Trust me, there will come a time when you want to have QT, but you will be absolutely so pressed for time that it will be difficult to do so. For those of you who currently have no projects, take this week to spend time with God.

Also... As the events for this year's Heart Awards and Create are revealed(the ICs this year are working at double speed!), I would like to perhaps note down some videos you can prepare for. Especially in light of our recent "Buffet Meeting", do continue to keep your creative juices flowing.

Heart Awards Prep!!

This is regarding the very urgent and awesome HEART AWARDS 2006! By the way, keep it to yourselves... This year's theme is..

UNLEASH

Please START coming up with your own personal ideas and video concepts! Why? Let me explain...

1-14 Oct
These will be our two planning+drafting weeks. Storyboard, write, draw, paint, take photos, MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!
We will need to prepare our ideas so that we will be able to come together and prepare them for the next stage of production.

15-21Oct
This will be a single week where Pastors and the Heart Award Team will come for an idea smorgasbord(buffet) and select the videos to be produced. We need to give them as much information as we can about our ideas, to make them solid and tangible so that Pastors and the leaders will understand our ideas and thus be able to make good decisions.

22Oct-23Dec
10 weeks of intense production. 'Nuff said.

24Dec-30Dec
Let's not touch this week this year. Really. Let's get everything done beforehand.

So go!! Run!! We have much work to do!

I will want to meet everyone sometime next week to ensure everyone is coming up with their own awesome ideas. Will inform you guys soon.

Hi guys,
reparition of the quality/darkness issues are underway. Good, good. We MUST fix it asap so that the work we produce will always be of the highest standard.

By the way... As you all know, the end of the year approaches. If ye do not wish to be caught off-guard, I suggest strongly that everyone begin to think of ideas for the HEART AWARDS 2006!!!!

I want you guys to come up with your own stuff as much as possible. I believe that you have to make the craft YOURS. Your BELIEFS and CONVICTIONS will ultimately shine through the sparkling thing you see on our wonderful projectors... I dare you to surpass my skill and creativity, to do what I do even better than myself...

Notwithstanding, whatever goes on screen will first be in the same flow of our Pastors, our church. Do you flow with the church? When people watch your videos, will they be explosively inspired to flow with the church and live and die for Jesus? Will they be convicted to obey and live in submission towards their leaders? Your work will tell.

It is time to work hard. Everyone... Prepare yourselves...

Video Quality To be Improved

Greetings, all post-production team members!

The Imaginarium Blog is finally up! I will be making slight improvements here and there, but this is more or less the final product. Since our room is the Imaginarium, perhaps this should be called the fishbowl...

Onto matters at hand. As you know already(Yes, you should know), we have been facing some issues with the quality of our videos. Here is what has happened

-Upon completion of Dale's Zone F Video, the DVD was burnt
-Quality was terrible; there was alot of fuzz and distortion
-I stayed back most of the night trying to fix the problem.
I exported the original Final Cut file into Quicktime as per normal,
put it into MY Laptop's Final Cut,
RE-EXPORTED the file into Quicktime,
then burnt it into a DVD, which somehow provided a temporary solution
